What is the Difference between Waxes?
Wax warmer with both hard and soft wax

What you should know about wax types.

All waxes fall into two  categories: hard wax and soft wax. Soft wax is what you usually think of when you think of body waxing. Soft wax is thinner and  is applied with a waxing spatula before being removed using a muslin strip.

What is Hard Wax?

Hard wax is is thicker and applied warm with a spatula. Once the wax hardens, it is removed without the use of a strip.  Hard wax is absolutely the way to go for all sensitive spots (i.e. Brazilians!).  Hard wax adheres to the hairs rather than to your skin which is a big advantage in the process.  Hard wax is removed by hand — so no strips!

We only use hard wax on bikini lines, Brazilians, underarms and on the face.

The Pros of Hard Wax.

  1.  It’s much gentler on your skin.
  2. No strips are required to remove it.
  3. It’s less painful to remove.
  4. There is much less residue left behind.

The Cons of Hard Wax.

  1. If it is being used on larger body areas, it can be time-consuming
  2. It can break more easily during the removal process.
  3. It must be warmed up before use.

What is Soft Wax?

Soft wax is a thinner consistency and must be removed with a cloth strip.  This wax adheres to your hair as well as the top layer of skin so your outermost layer of skin will also come off when the wax is removed.  Using soft wax may leave your skin red and a bit irritated after the procedure.  This process may be a little more painful than using hard wax.

We recommend the use of soft wax on large areas such as your back, legs and arms.

The Pros of Soft Wax.

  1. Soft wax can be used on large portions of the body.
  2. Typically, soft wax doesn’t break off during removal.
  3. It can applied at lower temperatures.

The Cons of Soft Wax.

  1. A cloth strip is required to remove the wax.
  2. It’s typically more painful to remove.
  3. A high risk of skin irritation may occur.
