Spray tanning, also know as sunless tanning, is a popular method of achieving a bronzed, sun-kissed look without exposing your skin to harmful UV rays.  Like any beauty treatment, spray tanning has its pros and cons which we will explore below.

Pros of Spray Tanning

  1. Safe Alternative to UV Tanning:  Spray tanning is a safe and effective way to achieve a golden glow without exposing your skin to harmful UV rays, which can lead to skin damage and even skin cancer.
  2. Instant Results: Unlike UV tanning, which can take days to see results, spray tanning provides an immediate bronzed look that can last up to a week.
  3. Customizable:  Spray tanning allows you to customize the level of darkness you desire, so you can achieve the exact shade you want.
  4. Covers Imperfections:  Spray tanning can help to hide imperfections such as scars, stretch marks, and cellulite, giving your skin a smooth and even appearance.
  5. Convenient:  Spray tanning is a quick and easy process that can be done in as little as 10 – 15 minutes, making it a great option for busy individuals.

Cons of Spray Tanning

  1. Short-lived Results:  While spray tanning provides instant results, the tan typically lasts for only a week, meaning you may need to get frequent touch-ups to maintain the look.
  2. Potential for Streaks and Unevenness:  If not done properly, spray tanning can leave streaks and uneven patches on your skin, which can be difficult to fix.
  3. Possible Allergic Reactions:  Some individuals may have an allergic reaction to the ingredients in spray tanning solutions, leading to redness, itching, and other skin irritations.
  4. Requires Preparation:  To ensure the best results, spray tanning requires some preparation, including exfoliating and moisturizing your skin beforehand.
  5. Cost:  Spray tanning can be expensive, especially if you need frequent touch-ups to maintain the look.

Overall, spray tanning can be a safe and convenient way to achieve that bronzed, sun-kissed look.  However, it’s important to weigh the “pros” and “cons” to determine if it is the right option for you.
